Days, Flags and National Symbols
The point
Part 1 of the handbook ends with a run of items that all feel like "Australian things": two national days, three flags, an anthem, a coat of arms, a flower, a gemstone and a pair of colours.
That is where marks go. A student who knows every item on that list can still lose a question by putting green and gold on the flag, or the kangaroo on the flag instead of the Coat of Arms.
So this lesson sorts everything into three boxes — dates, flag elements, national symbols — and keeps them apart. Ten practice questions follow the teaching, one group at a time.

How to remember
Before you answer, ask yourself one question: is this a date, a flag element, or a symbol? Reaching into the wrong box is what turns a fact you already know into a mark you lose.
