First Peoples, First Fleet, Federation
Part 1 of the handbook opens with three separate stories, and this lesson's job is to keep them apart: how long Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples have been here, when European settlement began, and how the colonies became one nation. It closes with what the handbook does — and does not — say about Australia becoming a multicultural nation.
Where the handbook states a fact outright, these screens give it in the handbook's own words with its printed page beside it; where a point is drawn out of the handbook rather than printed in it, the screen says so. This lesson covers the nine points this course maps to the opening of Part 1 and its glossary entries, and finishes with ten practice questions.
Every number in this lesson must be learned attached to its event.
